The most convenient airport is Bari «Karol Wojtyła», about 120 km away. Alternatives are Naples Capodichino (180 km) and Brindisi (234 km). From any of them a hire car is the best option: there are no direct connections to Venosa.
Venosa has no railway station open to passengers. The nearest useful station is Rionero in Vulture-Atella-Ripacandida, on the Potenza-Foggia line, from where you continue by bus or taxi.
Bus services to Matera, Potenza and Bari are run by regional companies. Timetables change often and with the season: check them on the company website or at an authorised ticket office before you travel.
Parts of the historic centre are pedestrian-only. All parking areas, including the car park in front of the Archaeological Park and the campervan service area, are listed on the parking page (in Italian).
