Il Brigante

Michele Leo won the World Pizza Championship in 2011 and the title for STG Neapolitan pizza in 2017, and since then he has run a pizzeria in Venosa that is also a trattoria. The dough comes in several versions — classic, crispy «scrocchiarella» and gluten-free — so guests with special dietary needs do not have to give up a properly made Neapolitan pizza.

Besides pizza, the menu offers first and second courses from the Lucanian tradition. It is in Via Colonnello Ruggiero Albergo, just outside the oldest part of the centre, and is one of the few places in Venosa with a national award to its name.
